Red Wings, Andrew Copp agree to 5-year deal

free agent forward Andrew Copp will agree to a five-year deal worth an average of $5.625 million with the Detroit Red Wings.

Copp, 28, joined the Rangers in a trade from the Winnipeg Jets and appeared in just 16 games with them the previous year.

In 72 games for both teams last season, he scored 21 goals and had 32 assists.

Copp recorded six goals and eight assists in 20 playoff games.

Olli Maatta, a defenseman, will also sign a one-year, $2.25 million contract with Detroit.

According to a league source, the Rangers are reportedly signing Vincent Trocheck to a seven-year contract as Copp leaves New York.
